They say that secretaries are the most powerful beings in the corporate world. Why? Because they are the ones who hold the ultimate power of fixing their boss' appointments, meetings, and deadlines. Secretaries can make or break a boss. Most definitely. And bosses can't do anything but follow their schedules according to what their secretaries say. Bosses don't even know anything about their schedules and often they tell you to call their secretary when you want to schedule an appointment.
Hmmm... so if secretaries are demigods, what do you call assistants who suddenly were given the task of handling the Executive Director's appointment book?
Supreme beings.*
I became a supreme being today. Hahahaha! And the first thing that was written down in my sadly seldom-used Starbucks Coffee Planner was a confidential meeting somewhere in Makati. (Of course I'm not going to tell you where). It is very exciting to have a soon-to-be-promoted Navy Major for a boss.
And it is also very, very elating to be holding the life of the love of your life.**
*If you have been reading my blog long enough, you know that I am never really serious about anything I write here. So take this as one assistant's comic attempt to fight office dementia. **Same principle applies here.

I was blown by the wind yesterday to the Beauty Bar and horrifically spent a lot. Horrifically.
In fact, I am now doing penance by giving ten per cent of what I spent yesterday to charity. And this is aside from cleaning the bathroom and doing the laundry. (Not that someone else will do them for me, but after a year of doing constant chores, I'm beginning to hate it).
And oh yes, I didn't get to be picked for one of the categories in the choral festival, so I'll be memorizing ten songs out of fifteen. Yey! But on the downside, I really, really, almost desperately, wanted to sing there. *depression here*
Aside from the paracetamol tablets and vitamins I have to take, I tend to swallow Strepsils tablets by mistake because of my vehemently talkative nature.
Take for example, this morning when my officemates started coming in.
This is what happened when Nathan, my new nephew, was born. My niece, Nichole, was looking outside the nursery area and suddenly pleaded, "I change my mind. I want a baby sister".
Hahaha. Cute kid. She knows it too.
not again
If truth be told, i like riding in cabs because taxi drivers tend to surprise you more often than not. Like that taxi driver that knew how to speak Israeli because his dad was a UN volunteer somewhere in the Middle East. Bottom line is, they've seen the world in another shade of rose-colored glasses.
But that taxi driver last night was unforgivably stupid for stopping abruptly in the middle of EDSA. My brakes worked but Bembol still scratched that car following the culprit cab. Okay, so part of my Greece fund will now go to repainting that silver '96 Toyota. The damage was too small for Insurance Companies to meddle in, at least I should be grateful with that.
But still. Again???
now that's new
Admittedly, I am a tree-hugger. I like keeping the environment in mind, it's a product of having an Environmental Specialist to the Florida State Government for a sister. Everytime I see those WWF ads about saving our resources, I feel like crying. I mean, did you know, unless we stop the Greenhouse Effect, polar bears are going to be extinct in the next century???
Anyway, I just want to tell you that I'm a cat-killer. I ran over a cat in C5 two nights ago. I didn't mean it. I saw the cat get swiped by a CRV when it started running towards Bembol. The next thing I knew, I heard a freaky meow coupled with two bumps.
It's a good thing that animals do not have spiritual souls so they don't have to have absolution before they die. But my tree-hugger conscience is making sure I feel remorseful about the whole incident. Poor feline.
one week could be a lifetime
I am eating my words regarding relationships, and guys, and what-have-yous. Yum, yum, yum...
Mmmmmm.... words... Delish!
Thank God they have zero calories!
Or else my boyfriend is not going to recognize me when he comes over this weekend to visit. That's the thing with long distance relationships. You make Globe or Smart disgustingly richer by going horrendously over your credit limit. With all the time spent on talking, you tend to forget what the other person looks like.
Can you just imagine me waiting for him in Starbucks over iced latte (2 equal and nonfat milk please, i'm punishing myself) and suddenly, "Oh! it's you!" Incidentally, this is not the reason why I wrote that play (entitled, Oh, it's you!) four Annual Shakespeare weeks ago.
Life is just sadistic. I love it.

If only I have the money to buy one. But then what would I do with it? It would probably stay at home since I've got a PC in the office. So I'd rather use the money for travel, mas masaya yon... diba? I get to see places I'd never thought would exist in my wildest dreams.
Me and my nomadic tendencies.

I am now an auntie to a baby (nameless) boy. Yey! Finally, there's a boy in the family! (No offense to my dad and brother in law). We've been so overwhelmingly dominated by women, it's time that there's a little guy to tip the balance.
Whilst my sister was giving birth last night in the other side of the world, I was having "pregnant" dreams. How weird is that?
Anyway, so the June roster of birthday celebrants in this family has now completed a full week. Can you believe that I have 1st-degree relatives that celebrate their birthdays from June 5 to 10? Birthday celebrations for the next two or three days then! Can't wait for this weekend's grand party.

"There are things out there that I want to discover, that one day this will all make sense... I am searching for the meaning of this cosmic existence that we're in. And
probably when I find the answer, I'll go and look for the anti-thesis."
5 THINGS
1. I sing in the University Chorale of the University of Asia & the Pacific, and we swept four gold medals in Greece for our very first International Competition. I got to do my two absolute favorite things: singing and traveling.
2. Although I am an Alto Two, my range widens up to Soprano One when I am drunk. Think Charlotte Church's Flower Duet. (I think it has something to do with swallowing the diaper pin when I was a baby). Dancing barefoot in debut parties may also be expected.
3. I work in an non-government organization focused on private sector development. It involves sleepless nights in the office and the constant worry of displeasing a former Secretary of Finance. My other two bosses are harmless.
4. I like my men in uniform. The Military has always been a fascination of mine even before when I was finishing a BA degree in Political Economy.
5. I no longer watch The Bold and the Beautiful much to the joy of friends and family.
